CSR Edmonds Supavent 300 Review

Supavent is a wind-driven whirlybird ventilator from CSR Edmonds. It stands apart from most other whirlybirds on the market and is in a class of its own.

The key standout-feature of this model is that it comes constructed from polymer-based materials. The polymer make ensures that the whirlybird is incredibly light-weight yet highly durable. At the same time, it gives Supavent the iconic modern look for which it is known. At a weight of a mere 1.9 kg, this model can be carried to any rooftop for installation without any hassle whatsoever.

Supavent features an aluminium shaft although the main head of the whirlybird is made of ASA plastic. It has a 250mm throat which is quite effective in removing moisture and heat from the ceiling area. The light-weight body of the vent allows it to spin and exhaust air even when a very light wind is blowing. Plastic construction protects the ventilator from possible corrosion and ensures a longer operational life.

This whirlybird operates entirely on wind power and requires no electricity or any other power source. Consequently, it has zero ongoing energy costs. However, it may not be great for times when there is no wind blowing. It also needs very little maintenance in the long-term and comes with a 15-year warranty.

The Plastic construction and the light-weight profile are combined in this ventilator to ensure a smoother and quieter operation. On the downside, this also means that the whirlybird is unable to deliver a heavy-duty performance.

For smaller roof areas, this ventilator is an excellent choice. A single vent is sufficient to ventilate around 40m2 to 90m2, depending upon the typical wind speed, common in the area your home is located in.
